This tea has a really good aroma and it is sealed in the foil wrap, which I think preserves the aroma and flavor better. It is very similar to the teas you drink at korean or japanese restaurants and I think they actually use the same brand.
Either way, happy day. I have never had any as good as this one, not even close. I have bought and tried many other brands of green tea with toasted rice as it becomes more popular. I think the foil lined packet also helps the tea retain its flavor. I had only been able to locate this at an Asian market many miles away. Imagine my delight when I found it at Amazon. Most do not have that great, unique flavor of this brand's toasted brown rice.
It has a warm nutty flavor that stems hungar and relaxes the mind. This is not the tea i get at my local sushi place but it is a fabulous tea, i carry a tea bag in my purse at all times. highly reccomended.
Buying is bulk is a good deal. You should shake the bag out before you put it in your water. Yamamotoyama genmai cha green tea is by far my favorite tea. I did notice the tea bags did have a bit of tea dust on them.
the roasted rice gives the green tea a lovely mellow flavor. i find i don't need to add anything to it; this is the perfect complement to a hearty meal, or to help with digestion right afterward. if you like green tea, you will love genmai cha. if you like it sweet, add a touch of sugar.
